What happened to Sora AI? Separate the product, model, and API
Sora search results preserve several eras at once: a 2024 product launch, the 2025 Sora 2 release, a 2026 product discontinuation notice, and a separately documented API deprecation. Those statements describe different layers.

A dated timeline from official pages
OpenAI published the first standalone Sora product article on December 9, 2024. It published the Sora 2 release on September 30, 2025. Both pages now carry a notice saying the Sora product is no longer available as of April 26, 2026.
On August 27, 2026, OpenAI's developer model directory labels Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro deprecated, and the video create reference states that the Sora API is scheduled to shut down permanently on September 24, 2026. Because that date is still in the future at review time, describe it as scheduled rather than already completed.

Why old reviews now conflict
A review written during launch can accurately describe what was offered then and still be wrong as current access guidance. Check the article date, any notice inserted later, whether it describes the product UI or API, and the exact model version.
Historical examples and capability descriptions can remain useful for research, but they do not establish an active login, subscription allowance, model entitlement, or endpoint today.
What TrySora means today
TrySora is not OpenAI, ChatGPT, the discontinued Sora product, or a claim that Sora 2 is always enabled. It is an independent creation workspace. Before each task, use its displayed provider, model, settings, credits, and result status as the operational boundary.
For a durable production process, save the prompt, source rights, exact model label, settings, submission date, output file, and disclosure decisions. That record remains useful even when a provider changes.
